One paper done and submitted.

Mapplethorpe paper simply needs a conclusion and a bit of touch ups in the Calla Lily, 1988 section. That, along with the bibliography, can be thrown together before class. If I'm honest with myself, I actually kind of hate the paper. Most of it is shitty semi-analysis running more on gut instinct than anything else. Sure, I read a bunch before-hand, but really - analysis of Jessie Helm's theory of art is going to do me jack here. Yeah, sure, I'll toss it in my bibliography - but beyond that?

*shrug*

ETA: Have decided that I actually rather despite Mapplethorpe. In the words of my mother "he gets tedious."

To make me happier - Enjoy Hayv Kahraman an artist born in Baghdad who lives in Phoenix and Patricia Piccinini an Australian artist whom I adore.

How completely and utterly charming. I really hate my fellow students sometimes. (really, you feel the need to mark up those library books? curse you!)

The UA also keeps all theirs in the CCP special collections and flagged for library use only. And the CCP is only open from 11 - 3 Monday to Friday.

I figured any other photographer I was interested in wouldn't have fit the parameters of the assignment (ugh), so I decided to write about something completely and utterly unsexual. I mean, really, flowers... It's ended up driving me slowly insane...

I like the icon, BTW.

His flowers. Oh yes, the tedious 1980's hyper-stylized till they are antiseptic in their frames pretty flower photos. He took the like and the joy out of them.

Bleah. He really was a bastard.

... about the Icon. I made it in a fit of pique after an active news day full of idiots.

*grin*

I stumbled across a lovely comment of his in an interview to the effect of "I hate taking care of them and want to preserve their perfection before they die." Somehow, that did not endear him to me any more.

It's a very suitable icon.
