Mapplethorpe paper simply needs a conclusion and a bit of touch ups in the Calla Lily, 1988 section. That, along with the bibliography, can be thrown together before class. If I'm honest with myself, I actually kind of hate the paper. Most of it is shitty semi-analysis running more on gut instinct than anything else. Sure, I read a bunch before-hand, but really - analysis of Jessie Helm's theory of art is going to do me jack here. Yeah, sure, I'll toss it in my bibliography - but beyond that?
*shrug*
ETA: Have decided that I actually rather despite Mapplethorpe. In the words of my mother "he gets tedious."
To make me happier - Enjoy Hayv Kahraman an artist born in Baghdad who lives in Phoenix and Patricia Piccinini an Australian artist whom I adore.

Re: On Mapplethorpe
Date: 2009-04-16 03:59 pm (UTC)I stumbled across a lovely comment of his in an interview to the effect of "I hate taking care of them and want to preserve their perfection before they die." Somehow, that did not endear him to me any more.
It's a very suitable icon.
