I would like to take this moment to state my husband is awesome.

Well, I decided to take today off.

I've got stuff I need to catch up on for grad school - things due tomorrow and Friday. The last month/five weeks has thrown things out of kilter more than I'd like. Mercifully, my profs seem to have been pretty understanding about it all, which makes me feel a bit better.

Once again, am very glad that it's all finished.

Works goes, well, swimmingly. It's looking like I'll be on some interesting things this next quarter (we just started a new fiscal year) and I need to remember to get a listing of monograph supplies needed.

Damn it, I should run out later and mail that package for [Unknown site tag]

So, last night, dredged up the only SCA clothes I seem to be able to find for us and wandered off

I didn't do nearly as much chatting with various and sundry folks as I thought I would. Mainly because early on, I wandered into Troll/Heraldry and just sort of ended up staying. Conversation was good, amusing, fun, and I had a good time. plus we found out how many rhode islands will fit in the phoenix metro area. *shudder*

Which really, was totally needed.

In other news - the insurance is all fucking done. This is wonderful. Totally.

Let's see...

Before anything else, I'm directing you lot to a post on my sister's LJ with a kind of neat little video. If you're interested in/like Hinduism - give it a shot.

Grad school continues to plod along. Really, I need to get far better at keeping up with things and dealing with them as they arise and all that jazz. I'm a procrastinator, and I know this all too well. It is, also, a bitch and a half to conquer. i can only hope that, well, everything ends up vaguely alright. Seriously. (And you know what? I kind of know it will. Because things like this usually do. I just enjoy worrying as much as I enjoy procrastinating. Or something akin to that, I think.)

On the other major front - I will rejoice when we're done with, well, everything. Had to drop off another copy of the police report last week, which was a pain. See, apparently they never got the extended list of everything - and insurance needs that before they'll do anything. At least it's not in, so hopefully we can get all that done with soon enough. I've moved onto resignation and just... managing it all.

(As an aside - if you want updates on all this, don't beat about the bush. Just ask me flat out. I'll be in a better mood and you won't get monosyllabic answers. No, this isn't directed at anyone on the flist - this was elsewhere.)

The house is moving along at a nearly snail's pace. However, we're at least getting stuff slowly unpacked and organized. (One of the bedrooms has become a library. Seriously. I'm all kinds of pleased for some reason.) This is a very good thing. Delicious Library really is the best thing, and [livejournal.com profile] domnall's found a spiffy little barcode scanning app for the iPhone. Now, to email Delicious Monster and ask why the videogames won't import. Right, when I get home.

We've given up on the pool for the rest of the year. Had it almost set and then everything went to Hell. We'll drain it, clean and patch, and then refill for the winter or something.

Need to dig up clothing for Kingdom A&S this weekend. I think I do know where things are though, which is good. Or at least I've got a vague idea. Granted, it'll likely be the over and underdress I've been wearing for the last several events, but, well, that's what I can find. Getting out and seeing people will be a good thing though. Social interaction FTW! (Gods, I spend too much time online. Not sure if I should worry right now or not...)

Really wish I could go to the weddings of two separate friends next month. That would be awesome, really. Unfortunately, life has conspired and so it shall not be. I won't lie - I'm kind of pissed. Nico and Erin are both very special to me in different ways, and if one wedding wasn't in WA and the other in MA, I'd be at them in a heartbeat. As it is, I need to be a good Willa and remember to buy presents.

With a pair of friends transferring servers to Aggramar, the desire to play WoW has increased. Had fun last night running through Old Kingdom a few times while we were all on Skype so Sam could level. This is a good thing, I think. Actually, I know it is. Combine that with running Star Wars (note to self - have work to do!), and I think I'm OK on the gaming front. Spiffiness. a lie - need to work on the milton/dante journal-based game. however, have a few months on that front to get things sorted.

And now, off to continue in the land of... stuff.

Because it's been in my head for several hours.
swordmage: (walking!piggy)
So, we're currently at 272 books, 363 movies, and 1 lone video game. The CueCat has, in fact, given up the ghost it seems. However, the iSight barcode scanner works remarkably well.

In other news, my father has created a (very happy) monster. For [livejournal.com profile] domnall's birthday, he picked up one of the starter sets at Brew Your Own Brew. We shall likely be going there this weekend to talk about more supplies and a few other spiffy things.

Busy weekend!

Mainly, we did lots of unpacking and organizing and so forth. I gave in and bought Delicious Library, and we're happily on the way to cataloging everything. It's a nice to get that underway. We're at abotu 400 total books and DVDs, split down the middle. And it's not much of a dent in the books. There will be some Bookman's trips, which I'm looking forward to.

Now, though, as the CueCat seems to hate us, it's time to look into a proper scanner.

Made a very tasty leg of lamb last night (though as my dad, who joined us, said "I haven't met a leg of lamb I didn't like), and so that will be feeding us for a few days, which is spiffy.

schtuff!

We have a house!

This really sort of overrides anything else. Granted, it's also tangentially why I'm here and not at the demo - all our SCA stuff is packed in various boxes under more boxes and we're pretty determined to get everything unpacked in a timely manner. Yeah, yeah, yeah - excuses, I know. Soon, people, soon. Sort of feel like everything else needs to be gotten in order first.

Besides, there's a spinning wheel calling my name. I really want to try it out.

Stress levels are fluctuating, but overall going down. This is very good. Now to work on seriously combating this acne break-out. It's annoying me muchly.

Grad school doesn't seem to be the end of the world. I'm only taking two classes - both of which are online. This is different, but rather nice, actually. Work putters along as well, which is also quite nice.

Now, if only I could find my copy of Nanny Ogg's Cookbook for this weekend. I want it signed... Do need to run to Barnes & Noble anyway, to grab something for [livejournal.com profile] squeeky_v.

Am also still sad that I will get to neither [livejournal.com profile] holly_housedyke nor [livejournal.com profile] nicodaemos's weddings. But a combination of no vacation time and that I'm under 25, hence no car rentals without being disgustingly expensive, means alas - they shall not happen.
swordmage: (chenrezig)
Ended up taking today off. See, we didn't get everything out of the apartment by last night. So I figured I would be able to do it all in the morning. Alright, I was El Grumpus when I left the house, and nearly went into panic mode when I realized what was left.

But, see, they have the place rented. And we'd really like it to stay that way - so we pretty much did all we could to get everything out ASAP. Because there's no way we want to pay more in rent then we have to.

Apart from a minor meltdown (and I should add, there's nothing better than seeing your husband knock on the window of your car just as you're about to call him back for hanging up on you because oh god! so much to do and you need reassurance you'll manage) it's... alright.

Sure, need to unpack the car. And we'll grab the bikes tomorrow when we pay the end of utilities. But now I'm home, and the keys are turned in, and the universe hasn't imploded yet. All these are good things.

And I got Bunny Shells and took out a chicken to defrost. Really, I'm much better now. I may even put up a timeline for this morning. Maybe I'll even heave myself off the couch and go make aforementioned Bunny Shells...
swordmage: (Ada Lovelace)
So, for the most part - we've moved. Still need to find the information for re-filing taxes and Gallant's bag, and get the last of the stuff out of the apartment to clean, but other than that...

Yeah.

House! Wheee! It's nice and quiet, and I'm looking forward to just getting everything set up and organized.
swordmage: (Default)

Spent the weekend mostly packing. Combined with the fact that I didn't check my phone all of Saturday, I sort of seem to have spaced on a large number of things.

It's been a few really long weeks (example: Perin, I completely and utterly forgot that email until this morning. Clearly, iFail.), and the next will be nice and hectic as well. Packing and so forth, mainly.

Long story short - I am alive. And now checking/answering email more regularly...

pretty!

So, let's see...

I'm alive!

House inspection this morning. Yeah, still love the place. Gallant came along, which was good. Having another set of eyes was very nice.

Life's been pretty busy. Between house stuff and, well, personal life, there seems to be less and less time. Of course, I feel like there should be something else of note to mention, I really do. Alas, that's not the case. Everything just plods along for now.

Stopped on campus to drop off some forms at HR today. Also had a slightly surreal moment as I entered an elevator. Ran into one of my old RTIP profs, who - wonder of wonders - actually spoke to me. This is noteworthy as he and I clashed heads for most of my time in the program, and after I left - even upon occasionally running into him - there was not a word that passed between us. Even though we crossed paths regularly enough.

Of course - he's a notorious asshole. *grin* And I'm rambling right now.

The in-class portion of my first grad class begins tomorrow. Yes, I still have shit to do. I'm just crossing my fingers and hoping all goes well.

Finally - because it's been stuck in my head. Carolina by the Sydney Sprague Experience.

swordmage: (Ada Lovelace)
I am the proud owner of a new (to me) spinning wheel.

Only one problem:

Can anyone help me put it together?
swordmage: (Whee!!)
So - despite the fact that there's still shit to do (inspection, more paperwork, dealing with apartment, etc.) the important bit is thus:

OFFER ON HOUSE ACCEPTED!

Yes, neither of us has spoken much about this, but we kind of wanted to keep quiet about it all for awhile. Or at least I did.

It's on 38th Street just off Mann. 6711 E 38th, to be exact.

I'm going to continue to go dance now...
swordmage: (Absence of faith)
Well, this was an interesting week.

It's been a combination of completely and utterly shitty (between things continuing to pile up and one nice little... yeeeaaahhhh) and kind of good. Much more of the former than the latter, but so be it. I'll cope.

Currently spending really far too much time putzing, and not enough time doing. Again, so be it.

Oh yeah, and my hair is no longer long enough to be put up into a bun. I'm still getting used to this...
swordmage: (Default)

It's Wednesday.

I'm currently unsure if this week likes me or not. It's been, on and off, unexpectedly rough.

*curses*

Hopefully, the second part will be better. I mean, can it get worse?
