Baby Capybaras!

Because really, who doesn't love giant semi-aquatic, South American rodents?

The Tick, animated series. Speak is a large, mangy capybara that was a character on the show. He would speak to the Tick with a cultured Oxford accent, typically after the Tick was hit on the head really hard or otherwise suffering hallucinations. Thus the moniker "Speak".

We may need to edumacate you guys on the joys of The Tick...

They're quite possibly my favorite mammal.

My dad tells stories of how they'd be the first thing I wanted to see at the San Francisco zoo. And they were at the very back...

But are they -tasty-? That's what inquiring minds -really- want to know.

Hrm. A quick wiki search for "capybara flavor" turns up that they're pretty decent and considered a delicacy. Be served with rice and fried plantains, they're a sweet white meat that is very similar to pork. Given my aversions to pork, that kinda rules them out for me as a regular item. Though I'd make an exception if the chance arose... just on principle if nothing else. For science or something... :-p

Pork you say?

*droooool*

well, I can think of one person who wouldn't have the same reaction. My mother would be like, "OO! where's a shotgun...gotta get them while they're young!"

Though basically, Capybaras are my mom's worst rodent nightmare.
