Since, in my small research, it seems that circa 600 AD is considered by lots to be the start of the SCA period...

If you were judging, and someone entered something from the 4th or 5th Cent. AD, would you see that as an issue?

Yes, I am well aware it's likely a disgustingly stupid question. But there's stuff in the Apicius that's calling! And I don't want to get something done wonderfully, only to find it's not acceptable for, at the least, the baronial A&S competition.

In other words, I'm currently curled up in bed. Went into work, sorted random H files, filled two freezers, and got half-way through cataloging the Pinnacle H files. Then it hit me. More. I'd already had two coworkers ask me if I was feeling ok.

Yeah, time for me to sleep.

Well, there goes the last little bit of resistance with that idea.

*proceeds to begin compiling spice lists...*

Thanks!

*I* wouldn't have a problem with it, as long as it was properly documented.

But then, I really like Antiquity :-)

*grin*

I just wanted to make sure before I started hunting down some things. Asafoetida is not something I normally stock in my spice collection...

I'm pretty sure you can find it at 17th Street Market, though.... XD

And if not - that's what Indian groceries are for!

Me, I go with the merits of the work; and what the hell, if it's good it's good. If the documentation, workmanship and methodology are all sound, then I see nothing problematic at all.
