So, the University is making us all change our passwords. It then rating them for strength, and if they're too weak, will not accept them.

I am less than enthused by this.

ETA: I appear to have forgotten the answer to my question - WTH?

Could always be worse. On one of our systems at work we have to change our passwords every 90 days, it's picky about the minimum requirements (so many letters, so many numbers, so many total characters, so many of each not in the previous password, yada yada), and it won't let you reuse passwords until after about ten changes. Our users don't like us much for this, but at least we can blame the state ;)

That must be a state thing, we had to do that at Value Options. Which resulted in everyone writing their password on a piece of paper inside their desk drawer, just like in Ferris Bueler's Day off and War games. So very secure!
