So, domnall picked up the newest Barenaked Ladies album, Barenaked Ladies Are Me. (Would have grabbed my own copy, but *shrug* if he's got it, I can just as easily mooch. *grin*) First time through, I was somewhat "Meh. It's not good, it's not bad. But I like." After listening a few more times, I realized what it was that made it odd - there's stuff that sounds like almost every album on it. It's like they're trying things out again. Takes a few times going through it to realize that, but the result is... pleasing. I like the result. It's a good thing to show someone who's never heard them...

The result is something that sort of sounds, at first, like it's thrown together, but after a few times through is a cohesive album. Probably, right now, my favorite song is Take It Back. There's something about the tune that I can't get out of my head, and I like how it all flows together. to share the job, I'm including a download of it.

Thank you for posting this. I like this song. Sort of a departure, for me at least, since I tend to equate them with 'wacky'.

I do like them, quite a bit.

Sometimes they're fun, sometimes they're serious. I like both, and it works. I've been listening to stuff off Gordon recently, and I really like how it sounds, it's one of their first albums. By the same token, everything to Everyone, the last one, has one of my all-time favorite songs - With You.
