Available for a week, because of how yousendit works.
If you want anything else by the people/groups/off the albums, drop me a line. There's no Dylan, Eels, or U2 as they well... I can't pick one or two... *sheepish grin*
Yes, you'll probably notice a trend towards songs that could be considered of the romantic style. Not. Love. Songs. Just ones about the subject. Trust me, it's by no means indicitive of my collection, it's just what I'm kind of on a current kick with. Also included is a sentence or two, mostly meaningless, as to why I like the song. Really though, I sugest giving everything a try. You can always delete if you hate.
The Fray
I'll admit I turn on VH1 in the mornings sometimes, and their song Over My Head (Cable Car) is on with some frequency. So I got the CD off Demonoid, and it's actually quite good. British group with lyrics that aren't as insipid as a lot of "pop" stuff out there, but are still pretty simple. Did I mention their stuff gets stuck in your head? Yes, they're pop-y, and upbeat, and probably won't put out anything beyond a second CD (if that), but as far as nice background music, they're useful.
Over My Head (Cable Car) - The Fray
Nice, simple song.
All At Once - The Fray
I think I'm partial to this because I like the line
And all at once the crowd begins to sing
Sometimes the hardest thing and the right thing are the same. (Oh yes, how cliche. *grins*)
The Decemberists
Okay, these guys are kind of fun. Hit or miss indie-rock for the masses.
We Both Go Down Together - The Decemberists
I'm really not sure what to say about this. Boy meets girl of significantly lower social class than him and falls in love? Just give it a shot.
Death Cab for Cutie
Seattle-based indie/emo for the masses. These guys were probably introduced to the majority of their current concert goers via The O.C. Don't let that turn you off to them though, as they're good. Lyrics are always a major plus with me, and these guys are a a very good example.
Soul Meets Body - Death Cab for Cutie
This is off Plans, their latest album. It gives, I think, a pretty good idea of their stuff.
Run Lola Run Soundtrack
I love Run Lola Run. Probably one of my all-time favorite movies. The soundtrack for it is also quite good. Despite being a German movie, most of it's in English. I"m not saying anything more besides download and listen.
Somebody Has to Pay - Susie Van Der Meer
Wish (Komm Zu Mir) - Franka Potente & Thomas D
Appleseed Soundtrack
Nabbed off my little sister when I in RI over Christmas. I hadn't seen the movie (which I now have, and it's pretty good), and the soundtrack's what I'd call mediocre. Not great. Not horrible. Just "meh." But there're a few tracks that I like.
Good Luck (Feat. Lisa Kekaula) - Basement Jaxx
I'm not really sure why I like this so much. Someone want to try and explain.
The Last Waltz
*fangirls* The Band's final concert, held at Winterland in San Francisco on Thanksgiving 1976. Martin Scorsese did a documentary on the concert, which I highly recommend. The concert was not only The Band, but they got a large and varied group of other musicians to perform. This group included Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, Dr. John, Van Morrison, Eric Clapton, Muddy Waters, Paul Butterfield, Emmylou Harris, and many others. If you want a copy of the CDs, I'll get them to you. They're worth it.
Coyote - The Band With Joni Mitchell
My favorite. I love her voice, I love the song. That is all.
Stagefright - The Band
A song about just that - rural boy goes to the Big City to become a musician.
Baby, Let Me Follow You Down - The Band with Bob Dylan
So completely Dylan, and such a good song. There's a great energy in this song, which I think was near the end, and it shows in the entire concert.
Bob Dylan
I lied. If you're going to have one Dylan song, make it Like A Rolling Stone. And if you're going to have one copy of it, have this one. From the Royal Albert Hall 1966 concert. The Band backed him up, and it's just plain great.
Like A Rolling Stone - Bob Dylan
See above. *points*
Death In Vegas
English duo who get other musicians to do their vocals. Some songs seem to have meaningless lyrics, and some less so. Give them a shot. Nice electronic-esque guys.
Scorpio Rising - Death In Vegas
It's a toss up between this song and Hands Around My Throat as favorite DiV song. this on
Other Things
The Ballad of Barry Allen - Jim's Big Ego
I love the lyrics to this one, and it's got this great feel to it.
Sweet Jane - Lou Reed
It's live. it's Lou Reed. It's Rock. Take it.
For Nancy ('Cos It Already Is) - Pete Yorn
Yorn's a (relatively) recent guy who I"ve decided I really like. He does nice lyrics with a nice tune, and this song is kind of pretty.
