Artist to recreate Afghan Buddhas
Afghanistan's famous Bamiyan Buddhas are due to be recreated by multicoloured laser images projected onto the cliffs where they once stood.
This is neat. While I know that nothing lasts forever, seeing something that was 1600 years old destroyed, intentionaly, makes me sad. So do things like the looting of the Afghani museum. (Egyptian antiquities are another story for another time.) This artist's idea to have them stand there for four hours on Sunday nights in interesting and, well, thoughful.
Hope it all goes through.
