So life's been pretty good lately. I graduate in just over a month, after which I shall be attending the University of Arizona. Am both excited and a little bit scared.

Today was a lovely day, upper 70s. One of those (cliche though it may be) days when you feel "good to be alive."

I've also decided that now is the time to start raiding my mother's collection of classical music. I couldn't stand the stuff for a period of about three or four year (after listening to it for most of my life), but have now decided that my music collection needs to branch out a little. And besides, I need a copy of several things she's got, and it's easier to burn then to buy.

So this is how I end up listening to the gorgeous On The Transmigration of Souls. It's short, only about half an hour, but I find myself sucked into it. The piece was commissioned after the Septemeber 11 deal, and is to honor the dead. Vocals are taken from what appear to be the missing person posters that were all over after the tragedy. Yet somehow, the piece doesn't seem to se as sappy as it could be. There's something powerful about it, and it's a fitting piece. John Adams did a wonderful job.

I've also swiped a copy of Mahler's Symphony No. 8-Symphony of a Thousand (not the Levine version from last year, but an earlier Osawa), some Copeland, Peer Gynt, Glass, and a number of other cds.

And somehow, this makes me feel so much better. Life has been chaotic, but good, lately. I'm learning to not let the MU get to me-which makes my life amazingly better. Realizing that soon I won't have to deal with her also rocks.

All that, and school is going pretty well. While at least one subject isn't spectacular, I'm nonetheless doing well. Which is what I want for the end of the year. All is looking pretty good.

Am now off to read The Life of Milarepa.
