Because I can.

These aren't in any specific order of preference, just a simple list of what I like right now. If I could get yousendit to work, I'd also be posting the mp3s of some of the songs.

Anyway...

Top 25 Songs
Extreme Ways-Moby If you saw Bourne Identity, this was what played at the end. I find it to be a rather hypnotic, addictive song.
Wish (Kumm Zu Mir)-Run Lola Run Soundtrack Honestly, if you've not seen the movie, see it. This is another hypnotic, addictive song. I think it's sung by Franka Potente, who plays the title character.
Diamond Dogs-David Bowie I've got the version on the Moulin Rouge soundtrack, which is the one I like the best. Just plain an all-around snazzy song.
Real World-Matchbox 20 What can I say, I like Rob Thomas' voice. And the way this sounds. Possibly my favorite on the album.
Under the Gun-Supreme Beings of Leisure They're a group out of LA (I think), who make some great sounding stuff. It's sort of lounge-esque, but also a little bit light-techno/dance. Fun group.
Breakdown-Jack Johnson Professional surfer who's also a musician. And talented at that. This is off his latest albumn, and has some of the best lyrics on it.
Born Slippy (Nuxx)-Underworld Nothing to say, except that I completely love the song to death.
Numb-U2 The Edge isn't the usual vocalist for these guys, but he does rather well here.
Until the End of the World-U2 Yeah, it's a bit sad, but that doesn't detract from the fact that it's a great song.
Wonderwall-Oasis My favorite of theirs.
The View-Modest Mouse "And if it takes shit to make bliss/Then I feel pretty blissfully" is part of the refrain. Rather catchy when you hear it.
Scorpio Rising-Death in Vegas Vocals here are by Liam Gallagher of Oasis. It's an odd, somewhat disjointed song, but well worth downloading.
hands Around My Throat-Death in Vegas Same as above. But also has a video worth seeing.
Lady Midnight-Leonard Cohen Seems like all (or at least most) of Cohen's songs are about women he's been with. Someone I know once calle dhim "music to commit suicide to." Which hasn't stopped me from liking him quite a bit.
Mr. Brightside-The Killers Addictive. Good for singing along to.
Falling for the First Time-Barenaked Ladies Sweet, somewhat fun, lyrics. Nice song, and not overly sappy as you may expect from the title.
Poison-Groove Coverage Yet another addictive song. I want to say it's a cover of an Alice Cooper song.
Death of an Interior Decorator-Death Cab for Cutie Sad, yet sweet and not melodramatic.
We Laugh Indoors-Death Cab for Cutie It's grown on me.
Political Science-Randy Newman Randy, one of the best songwriters out there. You've Got A Friend In Me can't hold a candle to stuff of his Sail Away album. This one happens to be particularly, I don't know, insightful? Thoughtful?
Simon Smith and the Amazing Dancing Bear-Randy Newman Rather nice little song about a man and his dancing bear who rely on "how fair people can be."
Save The Day-Train Nice piece, maybe the best off that album (My Private Nation)
Meet Virginia-Train Nothing really to say.
Tempation-New Order Most of the stuff off the first Trainspotting albumn is rather hypnotic and/or addictive. This is no exception
If I Had a Boat-Lyle Lovett I'd feel bad if there was nothing by Lyle here. And this is a great song.

Also good-
Baby's On Fire-Brian Eno
I know there's a version of this in Velvet Goldmine (and a good one at that), but this is the ultimate one.
Election Day-Lyle Lovett
Subterranean Homesick Blues-Bob Dylan Hell, Dylan just plain rocks. My favorite off Bringing It All Back Home (though Mr. Tambourine Man is also rather good)
Bongo Bong-Manu Chao
Caravan-Van Morrison Live version done in The Last Waltz is the way to go. It's with The Band, and awesome.
Flowers on the Wall-Statler Brothers
The Scientist-Coldplay

20 Albums

Run Lola Run Soundtrack Soundtrack Techno at its best. One of my all-time favorite soundtracks.
The Best of Leonard Cohen All it's missing is Hallelujah. It's got Famous Blue Raincoat, Chelsea Hoetel No. 2, Lady Midnight, The Partisan, and a host of other good stuff.
Trainspotting Soundtracks This needs a bit of clarification. There are two cds witht eh soundtrack for the movie. The first has Tempataion, Closet Romantic, Born Slippy, Atomic, and others. The second has Statuesque, Choose Life, Think About the Way, and Our Lips Are Sealed. Not the Hillary/Haylee Duff POS, but one by The Fun Boy Three, which blows the other out of the water. Both are well-worth having.
The Best of 1990-2000-U2 If you get the set with the B-Sides, Salome, Lady With The Spinning Head, and a cover of Happiness Is A Warm Gun can happily co-esixt in a cd case with Numb, Mysterious Ways, Staring At The Sun, and other U2 greats.
Sail Way-Randy Newman While any Newman is worth having, if you buy a single album, get this one. It's got some of his best-Sail Away, Political Science, Burn On, Memo To My Son, Lonely At The Top (which he says he wrote for Frank Sinatra, but was declined) and others.
My Private Nation-Train If you heard Calling All Angels, you heard the worst off this album. The worst song on the entire thing.
Maroon-Barenaked Ladies Good lyrics, good writing. The album with the so-so Pinch Me. Made up for with Tonight Is The Night I Fell Asleep At The Wheel.
In Between Dreams-Jack Johnson There's more on this album that I like then the earlier Brushfire Fairytales. Overall, it's got a nice beat and good lyrics. Sitting, Waiting, Wishing is the single released off it, and it does full justice to the album.
A Rush of Blood To The Head-Coldplay It's got Amsterdam, The Scientist, and Clocks. 'Nuff said.
Supreme Beings of Leisure-Supreme Beings of Leisure Their first album. Good, catchy, and clean. Me like very much.
Franz Ferdinand-Franz Ferdinand Another all-around good, catchy, album.
So Long, So Wrong-Allison Krauss and Union Station These guys did a fair amount of stuff on the O, Brother, Where Art Thou? soundtrack. But if you like bluegrass, they're the way to go. Krauss has a wonderful voice, and is a fine player of her instrument. (I always forget if she plays fiddle, viola, or violin)
The Photo Album-Death Cab for Cutie A friend of my mom introduced me to these guys. Nice lyrics and a good overall sound.
Live 1966-Bob Dylan I've got Live '77 (Rolling Thunder Review) and Live '66 (Victoria and Albert Hall). The latter is the better (even if '77 has Isis and Hurricane). Not to mention, the phenominal The Band does backup.
Scorpio Rising-Death in Vegas It's got Hands Around my Throat, Scorpio Rising, and the wonderfully cheerful So You Say You've Lost Your Baby.
Graceland-Paul Simon One of the few albums I'll label as one of the all-time greatest.
Yourself or Someone Like You-Matchbox 20 It's got Real World, Damn, Long Day, and several other songs that I consider to be their best.
Into the Woods Soundtrack (OCR) Because Sondheim is king and it's got wsuch great songs.
Sweeny Todd Soundtrack (OCR) Same as above. Plus Angela Lansbury and Len Cariou are wonderful. Victor Garber deserves note as well.
O, Brother, Where Art Thou? soundtrack Yet another excuse to listen to the guys of Union Station, here in the form of The Soggy Bottom Boys. And more Allison Krauss, Gillian Welch, and Emmylou Harris.

Also good-
Good News for People Who Love Bad News-Modest Mouse
It's got Float On, The View, Bukowski, and a bunch of other good stuff.
Lust For Life-Iggy Pop Some Weird Sin, Sixteen, Lust For Life, The Passenger. Great stuff/
The Better Life-3 Doors Down A few good songs (Kryptonite being one of them), make this a pretty good albumn.
