And one set of pounding eardrums later...
Jul. 3rd, 2004 10:06 pmI have survived my second concert this week.
Lyle Lovett was fantastic. There's really no other way to describe this. Unlike Something Corporate, the overall crowd and atmosphere was much better. Which isn't to say I didn't like SoCo, this was just something entirely different. The band was awesome, they were just great. Lyle played all I could hope for, from Cute as a Bug to LA County.
When he hit the line in If I Had A Boat "Kiss my ass, I bought a boat, I'm going out to sea." The crowd just got a kick out of it. Suppose that's what comes of living in a place which is heavily into boating. Of course, that song just kicks ass as it is.
But listening to the concert, it occured to me that this is what Country really is. Not what's played on the radio now, the whole Tim McGraw/Shania Twain/and such stuff.
Let's also add that he closed with some Gospel. Normally, that would send me into a fit, but it fit here. And it was really good older Gospel.
