swordmage: (for the future)
Let's see, have been back in Tucson for a nice while now. Granted, the trip back was a pain in the ass as Dallas was closed, and I was in Houston, and there was much chaos...

*headdesk* I got in three hours late. Two of those hours were spent sitting on the tarmac.

Needless to say, now I'm back in town and life is good. Started work again, which is quite good. I honestly really enjoy it down there. Granted, now the Disqualifications and worried parents are crawling out the walls.

Here's a hint to everyone else - LOOK ON THE DAMNED SCHOOL'S WEBSITE! It will have the answer to 99% of your questions. Including what majors this school offers.

So I'm working, and getting everything set for school. Financial Aid is almost all set (need to get the stuff from the state of RI, but that can't be done until the second day of school), which means bills are getting paid off. Damn I like it when that happens. I also need to get the paperwork for becoming a resident. I want in-state tuition...

So school starts on Wednesday. I've got my books, and I'm all set mostly. Taking 5 classes (3 gen eds, 2nd semester latin, and a film history class) and I'm looking forward to them. Particularly the film history. I was looking at one of the books (The Rise of the Horror Film) and it looks really neat.

In other news, the apartment is still a massive mess. Bright side? We're getting the shelves put up on Monday. And I say "getting" because they're wall mounted and for both of our sanities going to get maintenence to put them up. Then everything can get put up (books!) and all will be organized and things shall be good! (Not to mention I'll consider it worthy to have people over to...) Granted, this means they'll also get stained this weekend...

Let's see, to do in the following week that's not school related:
* Buy black fabric for the Revel
* Start Italian dress
* Work on device cross-stitch
* Get everything set for Sable Knight
* Find cord for external hard drive
* Move everything to external hd
* Get paperwork for residency
swordmage: (absence of faith)
They're starting to post grades - I'm actually doing a little better than I thought I would be. That's always nice. Today was also my last day at work. That's certainly a little odd. I'll miss them for the next few weeks, it's a good job down there.

Slowly everything is being moved from my apartment to Dom's. (I'm still thinking of it as his - my name's not on the lease {yet} and my things are not yet all moved. I'm also in the process of cleaning things to get the space ready for my stuff. It's sort of funny how things are. Mind you, I'm not complaining, but I'm nonetheless quite content. I'm trying to get everything moved by the time I head out East.

It's nice to be able to sit back and take a breath. I feel like this semester was... chaotic. Certainly I spent more time than not being whiny, miserable, etc. (thank you al, btw, for ptting up with it - and not killing me) Next semester? NO RACING CLASSES! Granted, I've only three credits left to get a minor in that (my, how the grad schools will be confused...), but I'm glad to have a breath of classes without anything to do with pools. Instead, I get to go crazy over latin. Acually, I'm kind of lookng forward to it. *grin*

I'm heading to Rhode Island very early on Wednesday morning (12:20 am!). It's not been "going home" so much as "visiting family." There's just more of mine here. On the oft-chance anyone from RI reads this, and I've not yet spoken to you about meeting up - I'm out there for nine days, get in touch.

It's been a decent week or so. Granted the highlight was Saturday night, which involved Barenaked Ladies. And Mike Doughty. And lots of music. And bouncing. And Barenaked Ladies.

What!? They're one of my favorite bands, and I was exceedingly pleased to have tickets to them. They rocked. The set list was quite good (no Nutshell though... Or Bank Job. Or Take It Back.) Still, they played Grade 9, Wind It Up, One Week, Million Dollars, and a number of other bits of funness...

And then [livejournal.com profile] domnall got Mike Doughty CDs and got them signed, and Doughty complimented him on his shirt. (well, i was amused...)

I finished my Racing Laws and Enforcement class with the final today. Trust me when I say that *dances* is not nearly enough. I am relieved and glad to not have to deal with it again...

And when I finish my Latin 101 final on Monday I shall be done for the semester... Life is rather good.

What is not so good is that I'm feeling under the weather and rather *bleh.* I crashed an hour and a half into last night's gaming session, at 9:30 and slept straight through until about 6:30 this morning. My throat is still scratchy and I'm grouchy.

Also, this, happens to be a small article about one of my best friends. He won a job with Horseplayer Daily through a blogging contest (link to his blog is in the article). He deserves it and I'm pleased.

And on one final note - the theatrical trailer for 300 is love. I want it, and I want it now. Historical accuracy, by the by, be damned.

So, I suppose you lot are owned an entry...

For the sake of everyone on the flist, I'll try and keep to a minimum long, mopey post - though I could most certainly give you lots of angst (and cookies...).

Southern was fun - phone call and Thursday night aside. Not quite as restful as I'd have liked, but such is life. I've a few months to get everything worked out for Estrella. I did take some photos, but not a great many, and none that are particularly good... actually, there are one or two amusing Whiskey Bards ones.

School is school. I'd really like this semester to end, and end soon. Granted, work is going quite well, and I honesty quite enjoy it. Steve's and Dr Allen's classes (Racing Laws and Enforcement and Development and Management of the Racing Animal, respectively) frustrate me... I'm glad I'm heading over to Art History, at least I've a good idea of exactly where I'd like to end up - (in no particular order) - curate, restore, acquire, or work for an auction house. Granted, this would mean I'm probably going to continue school after I get my Bachelor's, but I think, in the end, it will be better... Next semester's going to be the one to bring up my GPA. *grin*

Keeping me sane now is cross-sitch (I swear, the 2nd set of boars will be done soon. Then I can start on my own projects), reading (slowly working my way through an interesting book about fakes/forgeries in the art world), and gaming (twice a week). The latter's fun - Friday's a plain and simple traditional D&D game where I've got the cleric; Thursday is a d20 Modern/Future - I love my assault rifle - did I mention I'm the Medic?

Brighter news - *meh,* not much. School's hanging over everything and it's about all I can concentrate on right now. I have a project for Latin due Monday and a paper due for Steve on the first of December. Neither of them, I should note, are things I'm looking forward to writing.

*growls*

Did I mention I need sleep?
swordmage: (I Will Fall To The Ground)
I'm alive, I swear.

Just been... busy...

First I had family in town, then there was school starting (actually, they overlapped). And school's just taken up so damned much time... (makes me feel bad, as it's meant i've stuck sprout and [livejournal.com profile] the_four_houses on the back burner)

Still, school moves along. I've got that, plus St. Felix/SCA things to worry about. Lots I've not done yet, and need to ASAP.

School goes well, albeit somewhat frustrating. I know why I'm majoring in what I'm majoring in, but I'm not entirely sure of what I plan on doing with it.

Plus my watch battery seems to be possesed. It can't decide whether or not it wants to work... I"m not exactly intent on buying a new one. *sigh*

In the end, and on a bright note, though, I got a pair of tickets to see Barenaked Ladies in Phoenix in December... (*hearts* presale passwords)
swordmage: (Ease the Ache)
Been back at school for a week. It's... nice. After the chaos that was this summer, it's nice to have structure in my life.

Granted, that structure invovles classes, homework, and balancing everything... Nonetheless, it's good to be back. And I am happy.

[livejournal.com profile] squeeky_vis in town until Wednesday. [livejournal.com profile] domnall's been very good about letting her hang out at his place. *grin* My apartment's just fine for me, but it's not got enough things to keep her occupied. (I don't cable, and Elspeth, my laptop, travels with me.)

Work's also good. I'm a phone monkey, but it's not bad, and the people I work with are good. Plus is pays well.

[livejournal.com profile] domnall also bought Final Fantasy XI, and I've got a character on it so I can fool around and get a decent idea of an MMORG before I get dragged into WoW...

In short, life is pretty good right now...
swordmage: (Day's Work)
So, back in classes.

Upon hearing that I was taking Latin, my mother asked if I was a masochist. *grin* With Latin, quite possibly.

Also, in case anyone cares, I'm taking Racing Laws and Enforcement, Development and Management of the Racing Animal, and Microcomputing Applications.

eerrrmmm, woot?

The Maternal Unit and sister ([livejournal.com profile] squeeky_v), arrived in town on Saturday. MU leaves the 23, and Pippa the 30th. Friends in Tucson, be prepared to have her tag along to various and sundry. You can check with [livejournal.com profile] domnall, she's a good kid.

Even if the two of them decided that it would be fun to randomly start tickling and/or poking me. *sigh* Why did I introduce them again? Oh yes, because it was inevitable - I can't seem to get rid of the boy. (A fact which, I will admit, I am glad of. For some reason.)

Finally!

swordmage: (Day's Work)
So, the University College on campus offered me a job. Interview was today - I went in, got job description, said I could do it, and I start Monday. The pay is good and the hours work nicely around my schedule. Granted, I'm not taking a ton of classes, but still...

Job's really just answering phones and making appointments with the College for counseling, as well as tutoring stuff. But it's 20 hours a week and the pay's good.

*is uber-relieved*

Also bought my books and a few other, minor, things for the year. I've just got one thing left to deal with Financial Aid-wise (RI).

I'm only taking four classes, but that should be enough to keep me busy. One computer class, Racing Law and Enforcement (part 1), Development and Management of the Racing Animal, and Latin.

At last, things are finally falling into place...
swordmage: (I Will Fall To The Ground)
Finished my Matrix project last night. It was due today.

Final touches went ended at aboout 8 am this morning. and i think i forgot to completely balance the book...

What time did I got to bed? I crashed at about 4/4:30 this morning.

When did I wake up? An hour before my alarm went off at 7.

Do not lecture me about the joys of procrastination. I had most of it done, I just transferred the spreadsheet to grid paper. And that, and the color coding took eons.

Aahh yes - but it's fini. And I remember why I loathe pulling all-nighters. I think I've really only done it once before - freshman year in high school. Guess things are repeating themselves... And in this case, it's probably a good thing.

I'm really glad I had a large portion of it already finished, and just needed to print it out or transfer it to the grid. I know there are people who did the entire project from scratch last night. I may be sort of bad witht hings like this, but I refuse to do that. I'm not insane.

At least the class is cancelled on Friday. Granted, that's because of the field trip on Saturday, and I'll still be up at 7, but it's still nice. The field trip's to Phoenix's Turf Paradise, to take a tour of the office and such. It should be interesting.

And in other news -
a) [livejournal.com profile] squeeky_v. Younger sister. Finally joined the addiction community. I'm glad to see her. She's not posted (much) yet, but don't frighten her off... you know who you are... *glares*
b) [livejournal.com profile] llyfreneth. NYC on May 17th? *pleading look* You know you want to...
c) My braces came off yesterday. *dances*
swordmage: (Accio Brain)
So... I leave for school in two days.

I am tired, somewhat short-tempered, and blessed with a pounding headache.

Shracking hell.

In other news, I returned all my libary books (more then I thought I had), called several offices at Arizona (got Bursar's stuff strightened out as well as Orientation), still have a few things left.

*guh*
