Chaos! Panic! Disorder!

And I swear, I've nothing to do with it.

#amazonfail

Seems the long and short of it Amazon is going through and removing sales ranks for books that contain "adult content". This seems to be anything having to do with LGBT themes.

Shame upon me, little liberal college girl for not getting up in arms about it (*grin*), but I figured some people may be interested/want to know/etc. I don't have the patience right now to sit down and read *everything* - so forgive me for being vague. i'm catching up on ethicurean and food times I don't honestly know anyone on the flist this affects, but there are a few who'd likely be interested/care.

Besides, if I'm going ranty about book-related stuff - currently I'd rather do it over Barbara Kingsolver's Animal, Vegetable, Miracle. While good, she's getting on my nerves a bit.

Ysabet posted a link to a theory about what might have happened, and it makes a lot of sense to me. http://tehdely.livejournal.com/88823.html Basically, it says they could've been targeted by people abusing the ratings app to advance they're agenda. A holiday weekend would be a great time to pull a stunt like that because there would be fewer people available to catch and correct it.

It actually sounds like a really good theory on why Amazon reacted so suddenly. Hopefully they do some major backpedaling fast.

It affects me! And it's irksome. :)

It does sound like Amazon HQ is having a meeting, most likely to reconsider it's stance,
