Another philosphy on "cheap"

the most clostly part of any garment is usually the fabric. Now there is a caveat usually cheap fabrics give you horrible drape and don't last as long as say the exact same garment in linen or wool. Now, that is not always the case but most of the time it does hold true.

Also look at a garment from the place of "if this was modern clothing what would I spend?"

I think that if you have a pattern that fits you and you can't afford a good fabric you are doing things on a "budget". But the first thing..is this pattern working for you.

Personally, I spend more money on my SCA clothes than on my modern ones...which is kinda funny but you can get deals on plain white linen and you can use rit dye to make it any color you want. Or go in on a bulk order with someone.

http://www.fabrics-store.com/ usually has a sale, like right now, on whitelinen for 20 yards at 99.00..which makes it $4.95 a yard. I also use my joann's coupon (50% ones) on linen but they put it on special quite often that you can't use the coupon.
