Today's Moment of Lust

The Mantle of Roger II

It's a 12th century coronation mantle for a Sicilian King. Oh, the details!

It came up in my Islamic Art and Architecture class recently and I fell in love.

You want another eye popper? Check out the crown of Stephan Bocskay, Transylvanian king from 1606ad. and here
An awesome thing indeed. Gift of the Ottoman crown to him for his assistance. The crown is of Persian make and is the final evolution of the Taj-kulah crown hats.
The box for it is also cool

The main page which your link returned to is - albeit filled with outdated and broken links - very handy. And the mantle, soooo pretty.

The dead links are frustrating, but the pretty! So worth it!
