So - I made the mistake of mentioning at Southern that experiences with sushi had been less-than-stellar.

[livejournal.com profile] dverning and [livejournal.com profile] weavedancer decided to remedy that. Tonight - as there was no fighter practice. At first it was just a few people (4-6 or so), and when we got there - lots. Bryan/Arion, [livejournal.com profile] reynier, [livejournal.com profile] raventhourne, [livejournal.com profile] posadnik_ivan, [livejournal.com profile] scribe_ari, [livejournal.com profile] snotblossom, [livejournal.com profile] american_knight, [livejournal.com profile] duchess_asa, the Holly in adorable socks, and a number of others.

When I asked what I should order, I was told to just eat whatever was put in front of me.

There was fishy goodness. I had fun. I am content, and life is good.

Yummy sushi! Sounds like a far better time than sitting here banging my head against the keyboard while waiting for the servers to come back up... XD

And I was just telling Icka tonight that I was craving sushi...

Sigh. I miss sushi. Every time I eat it I get sick though. California rolls are the extent of my sushi noshing escapades.

That was most certainly the best way to do sushi. I was hoping to be a little closer to you so that I could push choice rolls at you, but I think I&I did just fine on that.

Whee... 25 people! That was a good dinner. :-)

Yep - they did just that (included Ivan fending off others so I could get a barbeque eel roll).

I think it definitely must be done again. I'd like another chance to stick in my brain exactly what I like...

Oh good. I felt a little like a bad host for being so far away. I know I passed a few things down with "feed this to Willa" instructions, but that's a whole world different from explaining what is what and how each dish should be savored.

We certainly need to do sushi again. However, probably on a much smaller scale. (I find optimal sushi is had when there's about 6-10 people.) That way we can actually talk the details of things too. Maybe next paycheck?

[identity profile] swordmage.livejournal.com 2008-11-12 05:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Quite possibly. [livejournal.com profile] domnall didn't eat much of the sushi, but instead ordered deep fried seafood and liked it - so everyone should be good.

My experiences of sushi have also been lees than stellar, but I doubt that it can be fixed by my friends sitting me down and telling me to eat what is handed to me.
