Something Positive's comic

And author Neil Gaiman on the subject.

(My respect for Ms Rice fell somewhat when I heard that the people who had sent back their books to her for a refund were getting them back from the post office marked "Return to Sender". If you're going to make an offer like that, you have to stand by it.)

As I feel the need to post something random about me, and not the world at large (or small), and several friends have asked me what type of music I listen to, let's take a look at what's inside my small, portable, cd case, shall we?

Death in Vegas-Scorpio Rising: Hands Around My Throat, Scorpio Rising, and So You Say You Lost Your Baby are possibly my favorite songs on the album. It's a British duo who do the music (Richard Fearless and someone else) and they get other people to sing the lyrics (when they exist).
Death In Vegas-The Contino Sessions: Same guys. Another very good album. I like Aisha and Soul Auctioneer.
U2-All That You Can't Leave Behind: New York is a great song. One of my favorite bands of all time.
U2-best of 1990-2000 (both cds): Some of their better stuff. Not quite pop, but still damned good. Numb, Salome and Mysterious Ways are highlights that pop into my head.
Buddha-Bar VI (both cds): Very nice/calming stuff. Good for studying.
Barenaked Ladies-Maroon: Nice sound. Group with a great way with words. Tonight is the Night I Fell Asleep at the Wheel is a sad song, but that doesn't detract from the appeal of it.
Barenaked Ladies-Everything for Everyone: Same as above. War on Drugs is a sweet song.
Into The Woods Original Cast Recording: * happyhappyjoyjoy* It's just a great soundtrack. Period.
Trainspotting Soundtrack: It's just such an awesome soundtrack I can't thing of anything else to say.
Trainspotting #2 Soundtrack: Even more music from the movie. The remix of Born Slippy is great.
This is Rave 6.0 (disc one): Title pretty much says it all.
Matchbox 20-Yourself or Someone Like You: I bought it for 3 AM, but Real World is a good song as well.
Train-Train: It's got Meet Virginia and Rat. Me like.
Train-My Private Nation: Calling All Angels may very well be the worst song on the album. Save The Day, Get To Me, and My Private Nation are much better songs.
Shrek Soundtrack: I have it simply for Leonard Cohen singing Hallelujah. Which is beautiful.
This is Trance 3.0 (disc two): Another thing with a title that says it all.
Cake-Comfort Eagle: They're funky.
Super Furry Animals-Phantom Power: These guys are cool. I want some of their earlier albums that are sung in Welsh (or something like that). They were mentioned in Wired a few months ago, so I looked into them. This is just a very good album overall. Golden Retreiver and Piccolo Snare may be my favorites.
Lyle Lovett-My Baby Don't Tolerate: Aahh, Lyle, I love this guy. He's Country music the way it should be. Election Day may be my favorite song there, but San Antonio Girl is pretty damned good (and so is the rest of the album, come to think of it).

There, you now have a completely pointless and rather shallow description of the cds currently in my small case. The big one at home has more like it and some Randy Newman, Stravinsky, Oasis, Coldplay, more Sondheim (Sweeney Todd), Pippin, and a whole mess of other stuff.

Damn, I forgot how much pain you're in when you ride horses. My legs are incredibly sore (I haven't ridden since last spring, a total of about three and a half months), and I'm tired.

But it's so fun.
