Woot! Otherwise known as 'lots of stuff'
Jun. 9th, 2010 10:10 pmWe have patio furniture!
Well, sort of. When it arrived, we discovered that a number of the tiles for the table had been broken in transit and the table itself's frame was somewhat dented. Chairs at least came out of this intact, and Home Depot has been called for a replacement.
*sigh*
Of course, night got better because we had Aasni and Argyll over for dinner so we could talk about feast gear commission. We've got a pitcher of hers that I got several years ago and love, and we've wanted a set of gear that kind of goes with it for some time. Finally, we got together to discuss it and things went quite well. Cups, bowls, and plates, in styles to match the pitcher with animals we have that she made. I'm really looking forward to it, if only because it's going to be quite nice.
I've officially given up on the 50 books list for the year. I'm reading, but keeping track of it's kind of a lost cause. I will say, Still Life - Adventures in Taxidermy is *fascinating*. There's a chapter on the woman who does Hirst's stuff, and another on Hirst himself, and those two chapters alone are well worth it. Of course, the chapters on Victorian and museum taxidermy are also really good, and quite suitable for one not as inclined towards contemporary art.
Roxy is settling in. I've got a few photos of her uploaded to Flickr.
She's had a few housetraining accidents, but they're lessening in number and I'm willing to chalk it up to her being used to living outside (and we don't have a doggy door). We need to definitely get her used to dogs and people, as we'd love to be able to take her to war with us. Her diet's going really well, as we're working on switching her to raw. She's currently attacking chicken leg quarters and happily chewing through them. (Though I need to keep reminding myself that the sound of bone getting eaten isn't a bad thing.)
Now, if only I could get over this lingering cold. I'm not sure what it is, but it's getting annoying. I'm not sick, at least not enough that I'm confined to bed, but there's certainly something kind of off and I'm over it already.
