Jun. 15th, 2008 02:06 pmTrip to B&N was successful.
Bought books for my dad for father's day - 5th Edition of The World's Most Dangerous Places and a travelogue called Kingdom of Ten Thousand Things.
We also got DVDS. Third Season of Weeds, which shall go on loan to my father tonight, as well as An Evening With Kevin Smith and An Evening With Kevin Smith 2 (the latter includes a brilliant part talking about watching Dora the Explorer while stoned.
Feature-film wise, we ended up with Boiler Room, Mirrormask, and Capote. That last one is further reason to marry the boy - he remembered me talking a long while ago about how much I liked it and wanted a copy. It's a very good film with Philip Seymour Hoffman as Truman Capote, dealing with the time surrounding his writing of In Cold Blood. (On my to-read list.) It's glorious, and bleak, and a wonderful piece of work overall. Catherine Keener, who plays Harper Lee, is also quite good.
Finally, the trailer for The Last Mistress looks quite promising. There are several non-blockbusters I'm interested in, including The Fall which is directed by Tarshen and if nothing else, should be exceedingly beautiful.
And there's always Choke. And Gonzo.
