swordmage: (Thoughtful)
First off, I saw Capote yesterday.

I had high hopes for the movie, and it met them. Great movie, and I highly recommend it. Philip Seymour Hoffman is brilliant. I'll admit I don't know much about In Cold Blood and Truman Capote himself, except for what dad told me when I asked. However, it was really easy to follow, and everything fell together nicely.

There was a very nice almost subtlety to the entire movie. It took a little time to figure some things out, and the suspense of why the men did what they did built rather nicely.

In other visual media news, I saw an episode and a half of AMC's new Hustle. First off, it's not an AMC"Original Series" as they claim, but a British show. Secondly, I only saw an hour and a half because it came on at 11 and I was tired from having woken up at 6 after watching Battlestar Galactica at [livejournal.com profile] avilina's place the night before. btw, bsg? i love it. thanks for introducing me!

However, what I saw was good. The cons are long, and there aren't gun-fights, car chases, or anything. The first episode involved a con where the police investigation was (unknowingly) led by one of the con-men. With the end result of, when the police figured it was a con, how were they supposed to deal with/report it? As it would look rather bad to say that they were led by a con-man.

swordmage: (have a nice day)
So I finally finished my Viking dress. It's not the best piece of work in the world, and I can see what I'll do differently the next time I make one.

But for my first thing? I'm pretty proud of myself.

Likewise, they could be slightly better pics, but no complaining here. )

And now, some cuteness - long overdue.
