*happy Willa* aka A Hodgepodge of Things
Apr. 6th, 2005 03:57 pmSo, my Ethics and World Religions class had a field trip today to the Providence Zen Center. Actually, it's in Cumberland, but that's a bit beside the point. Still, it was fun and interesting. Even if it made me realize that I definitely prefer Tibetan Buddhism. I'm not really sure why, and thought it may have something to do with my dad, I'm not sure. Maybe it seems more focused to me.
We cooked momos this weekend at dad's. They were chicken, and while labor intensive, once you got the hang of them, easy to make. I also did a really good bread. It's flat, and obscenely easy to make. I'll post the recipe at some point in the near future.
Also, the weekend's film selections included American Splendor, which was very good, and Shallow Grave, which was almost funny at points. And not really creepy like you might think from the title. And Ewan McGregor's rather good. As usual.
In book reading-I've put off everything else in order that I may plow through Kage Baker's series of noves about The Company. They're such an interesting series. And you really come to love the characters as if they were human. (Which they sort of are. At least once. Now they're cyborgs and immortal.) But it's an intersting premise, and one that's holding up supremely well. I've only got the latest (The Life of the World to Come) to go. Better writeup when I finish it.
Oh, and
zaralya... I bought Dubnobasswithmyheadman. And I adore it. Listened to it all the way to the PZC and back. Thanks for the rec!
Also bought the new Beck CD last night. And I'm finding it utterly satisfying.
