So yesterday, dad and I went to Saratoga yesterday. Always the highlight of our summer (though I do seriously miss spending more then just a day there), it was wonderful this year. Among other things, this was the first year I could got to the windows myself. Which meant I made bets for both dad and I, unlinke in all those past years where dad placed bets for me. A definite high point was that we both came out on top. Didn't break even, didn't lose, but both came out on top.
Not to mention, shopping was successful as well. I always pick up something cool, and this year was no exception. I found the Super Furry Animals' Phantom Power DVD. It's really just that album (which is very good) with some funny little animations. But I like it, and it's nice to have. However, the find of the year was a necklace at this little specialty shop called Kathmandu Bazaar. It's a beautiful Tibetan necklac3e with turrquise, amber, and coral. I've been looking for something like it for a few years, but they're always so damned expensive. This one is the perfect size for me and was a good price. the store may not be there next year, as they're very specialized, and the necklace was well worth it. If I'd hit that $550 dollar exacta, I could have gotten dad one of the tangkas they had, which were gorgeous. However, neither of us had enough money for one. Pity.
Follow the day up with dinner at Hattie's, and all was good. They've got the best fried chicken ever.
Now I think my summer is complete.
