A Random Notation
So, I've been putzing about a few horse-related communities lately, particularly of the thoroughbred persuasion...
People: your rescue thoroughbred is not out of War Admiral and Native Dancer. Yes, it may be that they have these guys in their bloodlines several generations back (War Admiral was born in 1934 and Native Dancer in 1950), but even then: out of is used to indicate the dam, and by the sire.
