Review 1
Saw Star Wars last night with two cousins. What follows (under a cut of course) is a review. This one is rather vague and completely un-spoiler-y, so you can read it and know pretty much nothing about the movie's plot.
Enjoy!
*First off, George Lucas can't write dialogue to save his life. You really start to wonder why you watched the movies in the first place.
*And then it hits you the battle scenes are amazing. Well done, fast paced, and downright pretty!
*The score is completely overlooked in a fair amount of places, and John WIlliams outdoes himself here. There are bits of recognizable things, like the Imperial March and Duel of the Fates, which lend a nice quality.
*Hayden Christensen isn't that bad here.
*Natalie Portman unfortunately, is hampered by some of the worst dialogue I've seen in a while. And it really hurts her.
*Ewan McGegor, I found, did a very good job with lines that, again, weren't all that hot.
*Palpatine steals the show. Seriously.
*Yoda is great. Seeing him fight is wonderful.
*Rather nice to see what places like Coruscant looked like pre-Empire.
*Granted, we all know what happens, but Anakin's fall to the Dark Side is still chilling.
Overall, a fun, visually impressive movie which pretty-much redeems my love of Star Wars.
